dont it ever hurt when----

yes it does , Don't you find tho by the next time you shake a rug -you forget to hold the buckles again and you get them hit your hand again.:(

It's the spider flying out and landing on me causing me to freak out and collide with something as I run away, that hurts most!!

PMSL you would hate our spiders then . They are so big there legs stretch from one side of your hand to the other huge little buggers they are. I don't mind them , its daddy long legs I hate .....................

Boring response coming up - sorry!

I always re-fasten leg straps before I take rugs off, so they don't swing around next time I put the rug on. Also since I've hurt my shoulder I've been putting rugs on from the wrong side (offside), and actually cannot now understand why I ever put them on from the nearside as the belly straps are far more contained and safer that way! :)

All the liveries on my yard are regularly reminded by our YO to do leg straps up ever since one livery didn't and the leg strap flew right up in the air and smashed the neon tube light overhead! Never did work out who was more miffed, YO for having to replace neon light or livery who was forced to spend hours and hours on her hands and knees weeping silently as she tried to fish every tiny piece of broken glass out of her deep litter shavings bed!

No matter how I put on rugs, I always lose a strap! It's either tucked up somewhere or hung over the fence etc!

When you can't believe how fat your horse has got since he last wore the rug and you realise you are trying to buckle him up to the post and rail!?

By some miracle I have never done that - no doubt I will now. My worst trick is punching myself in the nose when doing up girth straps and my hand slips off :( It really hurts and you'd think I'd learn but I still do it occasionally after 40 odd years :(

---- you shake out a rug and the buckles flap back and crack the back of your hand

Not nearly as much as an elastic surcingle which is over the 7 foot high concrete stable wall - and when you go to pull it off it snags...so you pull a little harder and then it gives way with an almighty PING which then sends the metal end of the surcingle straight in to your forehead and leaves a wee T mark!

pucciNponi - i did that the other day and the bloomin thing smashed me on the head-bloomin elastic legstraps!! ive got a huge bruise -just lucky it missed my specs!!
