I work in a RS/Livery yard, have been there two years as staff, five years all together as I started as a livery.
Basicly my problem is I have had enough. There is two full time staff, and three students and me. the deal I agreed too was I worked from nine till three in exchange for livery and training for my NVQ.
Things haven't been great this winter. The YO is, to be blunt, tighter ducks behind, and the place hasnt had a handyman since last Summer. There are fences falling down, huge pot holes in the very long drive and it all looks a mess.
The worst part is our School. We have an outdoor school only and it is terrible. It was, as usual, done on the cheep, and there was no proper drainage or base put down, it was basicly a little drop sand and some rubber chucked down on very stoney ground. So the stones have worked there way to the top, and the bits that the rain water collects in is just bog. It has got so bad now that even the cobs with tough feet cant cope in it. I have a TB who feels every single one so I havent schooled for months. I haven't had a lesson since October.
On top of this one of the members of staff is pi**ing me off with style! Her job role is "assistant manager" yeh right! I have never in my life met someone as idle as she is. She struts around the yard speaking at the students rather too them, she keeps banging on that they need to show her respect, but never does anything to earn it. Part off her job is that she is suposed to help with the training of the level two students, but she doesn't do it, she is suposed to take riding school lessons, but kicks up stink about it, not once has she worked out that if she pulled her weight and did some of the crap jobs she would get some respect. I had to get out of the yard fast tonight as I was about to explode, for the last two days this silly girl has been trying to flex her muscles over me as she has noticed that the others come to me over her, but all she is doing is getting my back up, she has her stage one and two care, I have my AI so she is kinda teaching her granny how to suck eggs, and because my mood has not been good I have'nt managed to ignore her and have made my feelings clear.
So really I have had enough of the crap facilities and the sh*t yard politics. There is a yard not far from where I live, and a hell of a lot closser than the place I am now, where I can DIY for around the same as I am paying now (oh yey, staff still pay livery) it has a fantastic School, has top trainers in on a regular basis.
If I tell them I am going there will be shock, especialy from clients and I know they will loose some RS clients if I go. But I have been there for so long, do I just ignore the bull [****] and crack on, or do I say I no longer wish to work there and go back to livery???? Argh I just can't work it out.
