Don't know where i stand. Opinions please?

I don't think it's fair that you and one other is paying for a 'share' on the same day.
I would question that, as what if you want to go on a 20mile ride and so does the other lady?

As to vets bills, I feel that teeth and vaccinations should've been factored into the monthly fee already and any other vets bills should be covered on insurance so I would expect the owner to pay that as your fee is/should be fixed.

If/when the horse gets injured, I would feel obliged to stick it out for a month and carrying on paying and visiting it on my set days as I'd get attached to the horse, but if the problem was going to be longer term, I don't feel the owner can expect you to stick around, which I guess, is why you have to give a months' notice.

So, apart from the other 'share' I would say this is a fair deal.

There are always other opportunities to ride other people's horses/help out etc, but you would expect it to be on an 'if and when basis' and without a leg to stand on if the owner decides they don't want you ride in a certain week as they want to, so I think the arrangement you've organised is a good one

All of the response to this has been really useful.

I think i'm probably too flexible with people, and i shouldn't think i'm asking too much. I'm more than willing to pay to ride, and i appreciate the area where the horse is kept is expensive and the horse is gorgeous.

You lot have confirmed what i've been thinking!! Cheers

re: if i want to compete, i mentioned this to her in an email i just sent. It just means i have to limit what i do, and that's not what i'm paying for. I shall wait and see what my response is...

Hope she doesn't tell me where to go, the horse is a real sweetie!
