don't people want to share/part loan?

I advertised my daughter's safe pony for part loan as she isn't riding very often (if at all at the moment :( )
I thought I would get some responses but I haven't had a single one. Don't people want to part loan anymore? I wish I had a pony on share rather than owning it; all the fun with no ultimate responsibility for the many and varied costs of pony owning!

I was thinking of £20 for as much riding as wanted, when my daughter does ride it is only walk and trot for 20 minutes so I dont think it would kill the pony if she ended up being ridden twice on a couple of days. I even put the pony can go to shows if they want to take her. There is an all weather school and it is off road riding too.

Try preloved, facebook, local tack shop notice boards? Add some more detail to the add (photos etc.) offer to be more flexible in days/ money?
They should be out there especially coming into summer.

I agree . I think it is too cold at the moment. As soon as the weather changes lots of people pop up wanting to ride, so don't panic.

She is on FB and preloved with photos and a video. I don't think I can be more flexible with the riding as it is as much as they want. I think £20 is very reasonable compared to the cost of lessons or owning your own pony, it certainly doesnt get close to covering my costs.

I'm offering a free share with one of mine with as many/as few days as they like, not had many replies and no sensible ones. I think the weather is putting people off at the moment. I would guess when the weather picks up more people will want to ride.

Have you considered advertising through your local pony club? I've had mine on preloved and facebook. Will try pony club and local tack shops next if no joy in the next month.

I'm not too worried about it as it is far too wet and muddy to get on the field. Have you added enquiries welcome for when the weather is better or something along those lines?

I'm sure there are people out there, I'm a sharer so we do exist! Try Horsemart and Equine Adverts as another 2 online sites, I'd also speak to any local pony clubs and see if they know of anyone.

I'm sure someone will come along eventually, the nights are lighter now so people will be thinking of venturing outdoors again!

I've been looking for a sharer with no luck. I have a ready made schoolmaster competition horse and great hack (with amazing off road hacking!). I am offering weekends only (as I have more time in week) or an option to do a weekend and week day. I do want a small contribution but it doesn't come close to his actually cost for 2/7th share.

I have even said they can compete but so far I've only had 1 response and she was too far away. I would have jumped at this opportunity before horse ownership but I just think people aren't looking at the moment. :(

OP your arrangements and price seem very fair - I've found if you offer it for free people don't turn up so £20 is ideal.

what about the horse loan specific web sites or talk to the local pony club and see if they have web sites.
Just a case of waiting maybe.

Sounds perfectly reasonable. Hopefully with the spring (if it ever truly arrives), you might have some more interest?

I'm in the opposite boat; have recently sold my mare but desperate for some riding and would be interested in a share. However, everything seems to be quite honestly just out of reach (as in, 40 minutes each way). Just keep patient and someone will bite your arm off!

I think at the moment as well people are looking to shave costs in everyway, so even £20.00 a week, which doesn't seem much to an owner, is pushing £100 a month and might be too much for a family who is looking to economise.

I had the opposite... loads and loads of calls about my boy, but the problem was finding someone who could actually ride.

I thought £20 a week was reasonable, but gave up on that eventually to get the right person.

Now moving yards and going to put my boy on Part Livery so I don't have to rely on anyone...

It's a minefield at the minute. I remember being 16 and jumping at the chance to help anyone out.

Good luck with your search.

Where are you advertised? I've been half heartedly looking (only able to share May-end of July before I go to Africa, so don't fancy my chances of finding something). Anyway I notice there's something wrong with the Horsemart share/loan part of the site. It's been weird for a while and not loading the adverts. Only way I've found them is by searching share/loan in the search bar. Might be why?

Im in the completely opposite situation.... looking for a horse to share where the owner isn't charging a silly amount and where I can have a weekend day... so desperate to ride!

Scotslad23 no offence taken, I advertised the pony for sale a few weeks ago but my daughter asked if I would remove the advert so she could try again. She hasn't so much lost interest in riding but the reality of owning a pony compared to riding schools has been a big shock to her. It's also been a bad winter so she has done very little riding. The pony is lovely so if a sharer works out it would be nice not to have to sell but I am realistic that I will probably end up having to sell due to lack of interest from the adverts.
