I got crashed into 2 weeks ago so have a hire car atm. Dont want to take it of the drive for fear of sliding into something! My OH nearly slipped off the car park and into the stables at the farm! Stupid farmer hasn't gritted ANYTHING! and there is a really steep access road onto the car park. I do like snow . . . until I actually have to do anything like walking dogs, driving car, leading horse or just generally walking about for fear of falling n my arse which has already happened with the last lot of snow we had!

Glad you are ok - cars easier to fix/replace than people!
We got sent home from work at lunchtime and I sent straight to the yard and nearly hit the wall turning up the steep drive into the yard (not a 4x4!)
I don't think I will be able to get out of my village tomorrow anyway as it has not stopped since 1pm and now starting to freeze so will be calling in favours of people who live in the same village as the yard!

Thats not good, i had a major sideways moment with mine today, luckily very slowly but ended up parked sideways across the road.
Had a panic at the top of a hill close to where i was heading as i thought if i got down it i may not get back up, luckily a nice guy in a disco gave me a bit of a lead in my fiesta.

i was ok earlier but very aware of other idiot drivers on the road. why cant people put their lights on and slow down a bit!

glad you're ok Gucci. hope the car isn't too costly to fix.

I also had a bump tonight trying to get home from yard, another car in back of mine, not much damage though but it was ice on road under the snow so i've abandoned my car, walked 5 miles to mum and dads cant get home and having to stay here overnight.
Meant to work at 7am and they want me to try get in, with no uniform, only wellies and stables clothes etc, and still 6 miles from work.
Long walk for me tomorrow at 6am!!

There is soooo much snow here in Surrey, and not enough gritters!!!

I'm in Surrey too, the snow is unbelievable, I definatly think we are worst hit so far!

Glad your ok though.

OH had just brought me back to Surrey- he didn't want me driving my Fabia, so he drove his whacking great big Hilux- well, I thought Bucks was bad!!! Surrey is snowed under LOL

Someone in the car park outside flats has plowed their Fiesta into the side of a Mini Cooper- 57 plated- bet the owner of Mini isn't impressed!!!

All well and good jumping in your 4x4 and laughing at everyone with two wheel drive...but we've all got the same number of braked wheels when it comes to stopping or decending a hill

Its easy to get complacent!

Drove our car up a steep icy hill last year, when we eventually got stuck we started back down and couldn't stop picking up speed for the first 50 metres...a 4x4 would have got us up round the next corner but on the way back down we'd have been over the verge and bouncing down a very steep hill

i'm also in surrey and it's bad. there's between 1 and 2 feet of snow in my field - never seen so much. it came up to the top of my wellies!!! i've got a 4x4 but it was still very hairy getting to the yard and back. i was getting overtaken by nutters in normal saloons on twisty country roads with sheet ice on them - crazy people.

Thats all i have to drive is my 4x4, apart from the horse lorry... but if i had a car at the time it could have been a lot worse, even if i was doing 10mph. the council had'nt gritted many roads around here.

Glad you're ok Julie and pleased you didn't hit the lorry

Thank you Amy x, but i hit the other car then went to kiss the Artic lorry that was in the same lane as me

Oh no - poor you.

I got my 4x4 stuck trying to reverse into my yard with 6 bales of haylage and 2 bales of feed in the back. Spent half an hour shovelling snow and chocking the wheels before car finally decided it could move after all !

I wanted to reverse car right upto feed room as 190kg of feed/haylage to move without a wheelbarrow and through thick snow was going to be tough!

I'm dreading tomorrow though - I hate doing anything in snow!!

Thanks madhossy, I though the M25 M1 was bad today, traveling home, but when i hit home "Surrey".... well 2-3ft of snow
shocked.gif
