... in this vile weather.

Envying all those people with horses on full livery who don't even have to venture outside. It is the most horrible uninspiring weather. And guess what, I have a lesson at 3.30pm when they are predicting even stronger winds, torrential rain and probably no light - yay.

Why don't I have an inside hobby - ballroom dancing for instance. Sure I could get really into that.

And you? Are you riding today? And what alternatively hobby seems attractive?

I start work at 12 so its either now or not, think it will be the not :D

Stopped feeling guilty about not riding a long time ago.

As for indoor hobbies, watching back to back episodes of Friends :D

This is an interesting thread. I'm not riding today but if I was it would be a real effort as my horse is also vile in the wind but I think if I don't ride in the wind I might never ride, how often do those of you who don't ride in the wind get to ride in the winter?

I'm happy to ride in WIND, just not in the GALE that is out there today - think I'd get blown off the horse.
Ballroom dancing is a great hobby, warm, good for the posture, very sociable and doesn't require any poo-picking.

I managed to lunge my youngster this morning before work, luckily our outdoor school is slightly sheltered from one of the farm buildings so the wind wasnt too bad and we just missed the down pour. However if the weather forecast is right I doubt I will be riding my other horse after work!!!

I dont mind riding in all kinds of weather, but it depends on how extreme the weather is.

Gosh is the whole country suffering from gale force winds!? It's howling out there and I have a couple that need riding. One who really needs riding.

I think not!

Not to mention the dark :( I set off early thinking it would easily be light when I got to the top of the hill (all off road by the way :)). Rubbish, it still seemed to be dark at 8am :o There was even an owl hooting at us

At least it is mild though.

I haven't decided whether to ride yet, I will see what it's like this afternoon once I have done the stables. It's rank here it's really dark, windy & wet :(.

I am up for Ball room dancing haha :p

Not sure about the safety aspect of riding in this.....

That`s my reason for not riding this morning. The school is totally exposed and the gusts are gale force. All the riding round here is on roads and quite apart from the usual idiots who fly around the lanes, there`s just too much debris and bits of tree hurling around to make it safe. Homes under the Hammer it is then!

It is very very windy here today but decided to brave it, I was rather worried however my boy was very sensible and brave especially with everything flapping and blowing around (mainly bins) thankfuly we made it home safely and hopefully the weather will be nicer tomorrow *crosses fingers*

I don't mind riding in the rain except I hate the fact that I get rain spots all over my glasses. If I ride without glasses firstly I can't see properly & secondly it gives me a headache.

nooo i don't feel the need in this weather lol, the wind always seems stronger when you're 17hh off the floor!! plus it will give me earache and the horizontal rain is very offputting:D

Wouldn't dare ride in this gusty wind, far too dangerous with branches falling down, plus I am a wus and don't ride in the rain. Am lucky to have a little horse who doesn't need to be ridden out every day, he is eating his head off in the field with his buddies and very happy. :) :) :)

Weather is pretty pants down here too , but i wouldn't beable to ride today any how

Paddy is up for some ballroom dancin' , he'll do a lovely foxtrot , if there's any ballroom diva mares out there , he's the boy..:D

Oh....I'm a fair weather rider these days:)

Plus horse hates the rain and is a knobber in the wind (poncy arab). Not worth upsetting both of us. Its supposed to be fun....:D

If the weathers crap and I'm desperate to ride ( unlikely;)) I take the highand out.....it's like coasting along on a sofa and he's oblivious to everything.

I attempted to ride this morning. Shouldn't have bothered! K was stupidly spooky and I nearly fell off, not much fun in the wind, rain and dark (school is lit but 2 of the 6 lights are out)! So I gave up and rode down the track with him spooking all the way!

So I pulled his mane instead! Wish I'd stayed in bed :(

I would normally give riding a miss in this rain and wind, but we have a jumping lesson booked for this afternoon with my instructor, but it is in an indoor school and we have to box over there. At least Charlie is in this morning to dry off.

Sounds good, I'm in, anyone else up for the H&HO Ballroom Dancing Club?
