So last week had best lesson ever on Henry like seriously good felt a million dollars during and after! then sat an ok lesson couldn't fault him but just a bit ....
AND THEN such a drop back in his schooling... went into school (hes used to) spooked at lots then other horse came in so he immediately decided that he wanted to be near it. then proceeded to tank off very fast i literally couldn't have stopped him almost causing v dangerous accident where we actually crashed into other horse!! I'm just SO annoyed he was going so well just don't understand. V upset. but more experienced rider got on and had the same problems so that made me feel better...
But you know i really thought we had made an improvement

any one with tips to come back from this (i know its not huge but it upset me...)
of course i forgave him after he gave me the ' I'm so cute didn't do it really... love me' face but grrr
Sorry kind of turned into rant
ALSO 4 or 5 of the people on my yard turned up to watch the show makes me so mad!

One good lesson doesnt mean it is consolidated. I always take it down a gear when instructor isnt there. I work on the things im confident with and just push a bit with the other things. It takes time. If things arent going well back off as you dont want to reinforce bad habits/behaviour. Wait till you have an instructor there to help you overcome the battles.

And yes, I could pack it in every November!!!! When the weather is bad, the days are short and I know I cant ride regularly.

i have been having the same thing - you conquer one thing then the next appears. just dont let it bother you - focus on the good work and what you have achieved. dont worry about everyone watching its typical but to me it sounded like you handled it very well. It will soon be summer and things are always much nicer then!!!

Sometimes you're in the 'darkest before dawn' stage without realising eg your riding might have improved so you're asking & expecting more of your horse. Then the horse doesn't like the new, improved you, so is throwing more stuff at you hoping you'll revert to the previous status quo...

So you need to hang in there... Hope this makes sense!
