i got told reason why my horse was lame coz im too tall and fat ect and just get fed up

anyone just get so fed up?

I am 5ft2, and about 11 stone (just under, to be fair, i am a ff cup so most of weight is there!) but my just turned 5 year old is 14hh, and was given to me as a unbroken/unhandled 4 year old, for free, people have stuff like this to me, but i just answer along the lines of, she is now the sweetest mare on the yard, an angel to school, and hacks alone, from a unbroken wild mare, about to be turn loose forever, i dont really care, she carries me happily, as long as ur horse is happy, u should be, and sod what others think, ive not moved to a "posher" yard in a very nice area, and was a little like oh god, am i gonna get more of this, are they all gonna be look at my pricey horse types, but everyone has been lovely and i feel far more comfortable, chances are theyre jealous, of the bond u have with ur horse, and the fun u have on it. end of rant :)

Oh yes, i got that quite alot on my old yard, a girl on my old yard had a big warmblood that she had NO hope of riding, she just wanted to be cool, the last time she rode him, she put him in a pelham, upside down and the wrong way round, plus it was for a 13.2 pony ( i am not making it up she really was thick) so i told her it was wrong, so she told me as i didn't have a horse,( i had a pony) that i didn't know what i was doing, so she got on, didn't tighten her girth, took hold of the reins, booted him to get him going and the horse reared and took off, because she didn't tighten her girth the saddle sliped round and off she came.

I was working on this girls mums yard, backing and reschooling horses, so she thought she could boss me around ( i was the only person on there), and that she was the top rider. She always looked down her nose at me, she didn't like me tying my pony up next to her stable, and complained to her mum that my pony was upsetting hers and thas why she coulden't ride him, as he was too stressed.
Her mum told her to let me ride him, after all it was my job, but she wasn't having none of it, so when she went on holiday, her mum told me to ride him, so i did, he was the most honest horse i have ever rode, he had been well schooled in the past, in a snaffle, but she got scared of him and sold him and got a sec a yearling that she never bothered with.

She was the most irritating person i have ever met and to write down everything would take days lol.

deary me, its a shame that people see horses/ponies as a status symbol, why cant people just think as long as animal and rider is happy and comfortable, thats all that counts? for most people there horses are a hobby, not a career, so why dont some people lighten up! x

The way to deal with people like that is to smile sweetly - and then go and beat the socks off them ;) If you don't win then so what? It's about having a good day out and enjoying your horse, not thinking about what other people are saying/thinking. It can only bother you if you allow it to.

You don't 'need' a flashy big competetive horse to do well, some smaller ones can be equally capable, think of Marion Mould and Stroller - 14.1hh but still won the Hickstead derby!

dont you get fed up when people call your horses retarded pushbutton donkeys when theyve never met them and judges them from pictures?
oh no wait, you cant get fed up from that, because you do it :)

My daughter is 5ft 7, weighs about 8.5 stone and still rides her 13.1 pony and takes him competing and to fun rides, yeah people say things and it used to bother me, especially as she has a much bigger horse that she could be taking(who is mental at shows currently) but it never bothered her and certainly doesn't bother the little lion man (my nickname for her pony) When she was the "right" size for him, he was a bit mental and she had to work through it like she's doing with the horse, but when she wants to just have fun she takes the pony and sod what anyone else thinks.

I wouldn't worry about it, if you're both happy then it doesn't matter.

So is this why you want a new BIG horse????

JUst ignore them if it bothers you. Horses can be amazing no matter how big they are or what there price tag is, as long as they love their horses and enjoy them thats all that matters. You have your whole life infront of you, and over time you will meet people that are 10 X as worse. Im sure there not that bad. Hey, you never know, they might just be jealous that your a tall person :D

It used to but I now know better. People look down on me on my cobs from their posh warmbloods when we are competing but their expression soon changes when they see them move! ;)

Yep! They are so ridiculous it doesn't even annoy me. Although saying that, a friend of a friend who thinks she is the dogs b******s had just bought a beautiful warmblood. He's three years old and she's broken him and has him in a flash and martingale already, has him working in an outline around the school and she's going to start showjumping in a couple of months. Disaster waiting to happen but hey, she DOES know everything, who are we to question her genius!
