my mare is a serial door kicker, but only when she gets stressed or anxious, her stable overlooks the beach/prom and bridlepath and whenever there is anything going on up there she stresses, box walks, kicks and is generally unmanageable! or at best very difficult!

For the last 3 weeks my YO has let me trial her in the stable round the front that looks onto the carpark! and what a difference, i now have a calm relaxes horse that has kicked the door once! about 4 times in 3 weeks!

Sounds perfect doesnt it! apart from i dont think i will be able to move her, as the horse in the stable next door is also a door kicker who hasn`t kicked for over a year, he paws the ground with the door open!!! not that he seems remotely bothered by her!!

I am gutted, and having seen the change in my sensitive mare feel awful at even the prospect of moving her back to her old stable!!! and the fact that i must be such a bad mummy not realising the extent of it earlier!!

why is life with horses never simple!!!!!!

i did, but she only really kicks when she is anxious, tbh the kicking is a small part of the problem, it more the box walking and spinning in the stable when she kicks off that makes grooming and tacking up hard work!

thanks, yeah thats one option, thing is she does like coming in, she is kept by the beach so the grass is no brilliant! when she is settled she is fine in her stable.
