How absolutley pathetic, the investigations into the doping of numerous ponies at the jersey bsja show, have been stopped and no further actions will taken because... "there is no law against doping ponies". So apparently doping without owners consent is fine and dandy, causing danger to people and horses in the process? not a problem! what a joke

Surely doping ponies has the potential to cause a serious injury or even death and should be investigated as intent to cause actual bodily harm or similar? And also, is it just the police investigation that has been stopped or are the BSJA still investigating? Would be very suprised if they took the attitude mentioned in OP.

correct it is only the POLICE investigation that has been stopped. ACP isn't a prohibited substance hence why they can't charge her. If they could then the likes of Cian O'Connor and Ludger Beerbaum would have had criminal repercussions after the olympics which they didn't.

Bsja have made no further statements as to their investigation other than that they are still awaiting the blood test results. Hopefully the English BSJA will get behind the branch and force the investigation to continue.

Oh and so you know lady has sold her story exclusively to the Mail so that will be in either tomorrow on it may be Sunday! *rolls eyes*

True there is no specific offence of doping ponies however there are still laws that could be pursued by the Police. It may appear strange to some but the actual offence for causing injury etc to animals (forgeting cruelty etc) is 'Criminal Damage' or attempt Criminal Damage. Depending on the blood test results this offence may or may not have been committed. The Police may however have decided not to pursue this matter & leave it to BSJA to take action. This in itself is not unusual when you consider how many assaults of varying degrees happen in the Premiership Football Matches each week. Police do not pursue them either & let the governing bodies take the necessary action.
Should the person at the centre of this allegation be found guilty I believe that as long as strong action is taken buy a ruling body, BSJA or Police then that should surfice.
This matter must be pursued to a conclusion to ensure that it does not occur again.

It sounds barmy - although we can't really expect specific laws, sure a element of common sense should prevail? Giving amedication to an unknown pony could have all sorts of effects for the pony, let alone what may arise should that pony be ridden. I guess the Police have other things to do this week - like measuring under 12's to see is they should have a booster seat................

But surely it's against the kids Human Rights' to have their lives put in danger riding semi-doped ponies? Take it to the European Courts I say. If a burglar who trips over the family cat and breaks his leg has 'rights' then I'd say the families of these kids definately do.
