I lost my horse of a lifetime 18 months ago. Pete was everything to me. When I bought him he was only shod in front had been with a dealer was furry as anything ten years old preferred jumping in straight lines to schooling or Show Jumping. Had the sweetest nature. Non dominant in the field and even though I wasn’t actually looking for a horse I bought him as it just felt right. Never once regretted it.
just seen his absolute double for sale in Devon! So spooky. Kieran!

I know this is a happy sort of a post and I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but that horse doesn't look anything like your Pete..........sure, it's sort of the same colour, but other than that he's not a patch on your fella.

I was thinking the same as Cortez - Pete was much more of a quality horse than the one in Devon! Such a lovely boy too, no other would come close.

Careful - i chased my horse of a life time for years and bought several that looked very similar to him but none of them WERE him so i was always disappointed— i only found my next true team mate when i stopped looking for his replacement and decided what i wanted the horse for… then he found me.

Thanks for that. I agree. I’m not sure how I even try to go forward replacing him really. Certainly not ready.

Thank you. Indeed Pete wasn’t anything special on paper but to me he was everything.

That’s kind of where I’m at really. Sure Mr or Mrs right will appear when I least expect it!

When my horse of a lifetime passed, my next horse was very different and whilst I achieved and learnt so much from him I craved the “type” my sharp chestnut mare was.

Low and behold the universe delivered to me another intelligent moody chestnut mare that was near identical to my heart horse.

She is so alike my old mare that occasionally my husband will call her by the previous mares name, particularly if he is relating a story about her snaking her head at him, or her bullying the other horses.

We all have a type that suits us best - emotionally anyway!

Ah that’s lovely. I just need to trust the universe. Also trusting the price won’t be hideous!
