Hi again. Posted a few weeks back re best horsey places in Dorset. Many thanks to MerryVB, Dunlin and Fii for their input. Fii: have tried to PM you on several occasions as you suggested but you were "full" any chance you can PM me please?

OH likes Dorchester - would love to hear from anyone within a ten mile radius re part/assisted or even just grass livery for 16.3 TB/ID gelding. As before, access to bridleways and good off road hacking more important than top class on site facilities.

There must be lots of "secret" places there who never advertise because they don't need to! Here's hoping.

10 mile radius of Dorch - you could try Ridge Farm at Waterston which is a DIY yard with turnout 365 days of the year. Its about 2 miles from Dorch. Its a bit bonkers there but there is a small school and the riding is fab. Its all on chalk so doesn't get muddy at all whatever time of the year. I know the people who own it but also people who have had horses there.

Many thanks Carolineb will investigate further. It does sound fine as far as t.o. and outriding concerned. If you have any further info which might be best not posted "in public" please PM me. I will try to PM Fii again too as need to find suitable livery before house hunting in earnest as don't want him kept miles away from home. Ta again.

There was a yard advertising recently called little minterne stables at Cerne Abbas, which is about 7 miles out of Dorch. Maybe worth joing Dorset Equestrian group on FB if you use it? Good luck!

Hiya, I live in Dorchester and have my horse on part livery at White Horse in Osmington which is about 7 miles away. The care is great and very flexible and the hacking and facillites are fab. x

Thank you all lovely people. Something to work on now. Looking forward to returning to the South West after a 20 year exile in the Midlands.

I can give you the contact details for Ridge if you like. Having lived very close to Ridge for 5 years I can tell you that the riding is absolutely fantastic and hardly any on road.

I now live near Three Gates and have to say that the immediate riding is awful compared to Ridge. Its very wet, bottomless clay ground and the bridleways are barely passible 9 months of the year. I imagine the turnout wouldn't be 365 days a year but I could be wrong. However, if you turn left out of the yard and keep going down the road for a mile or two, you can then climb up onto Batcombe and there are lots of lovely bridleways that way.

My friend runs Little Minterne; I haven't been there myself as she only recently took it over but it looks lovely and she has been doing a lot of work renovating it all. She has spaces afaik as recently opened and is a lovely, kind reliable lady who I'm sure would look after like her own! If you want her number please PM me.

Hi, sorry to hijack your thread but I am also looking for DIY livery between Dorchester and Wool area and wondered if there are any suggestions for that area? Preferably somewhere small, with all year turnout like jaybeve and wondered if anyone has any recommendations. I would just like somewhere friendly and fun that me and my youngster can enjoy ourselves!

Sorry not to have picked up your post b4 now. I am PMing you with some info. Seems we are looking for much the same thing.
