Hi
My family and I will be on holiday in Dorset in June.
I am looking for a riding centre where I can go for a hack while I am there.
Can anyone recommend somewhere near the Bridport area? Preferably with beach riding!
thanks

Not sure you will get beach riding in June? Try Studland Riding School. Brilliant place and even if the beach rides have stopped, you will not be disappointed with the other rides available. Enjoy our beautiful County :)

brilliant, thanks. I did wonder about beach restrictions. But I do love dorset, so I know I wont be disappointed without the beach.

Hi,

Studland is really beautiful but I suspect that you're not really looking for somewhere to ride that is about an hour's drive away from Bridport?

Bridport to Dorchester = 15 mins, Dorchester- Wareham = 20-25 mins, and then Wareham to Studland = 15 mins or so. I have driven the bit from Bridport to Wareham soooo many times.

If nobody can suggest anything close to Bridport or just west of it then have a look at stables near Weymouth or even Portland where the views are just as stunning imo as from Studland. Sorry have never used stables in the area, just know there are some around.

I was wondering about the distance....google maps says it is about an hour.

Unless we can combine it with some other adventure out that way, then I doubt we would journey that far out just for me to have a hack (I am the only horsey one going out of 8 adults).

At least an hour I'd say.

But couple of things.
Studland is amazing and beautiful so no problem for your non horsey friends enjoying the day trip. You've got Corfe castle to visit on the way for a start off, Wareham, next to the river, is a beautiful spot for lunch, Swanage is a lovely old fashioned seaside town with plenty of restaurants ect. and the town tends to stay open a bit later than anywhere else round there, and there's steam trains!!!!!!.:D

Secondly, I'm pretty sure I've seen hacking on the beach in the summer outside the hours of the restrictions.

It's light till gone 10pm in June and I think they run late evening rides. So it would be quite a unique experience.

thank you Aarrghimpossiblepony!

SOme brilliant ideas of things to do in that area. Would certainly make it worthwhile to drive out there.

thanks again!

Hope you enjoy our beautiful area & that the weather is glorious for you! Advantage, just down the road, is amazing. If you do visit, try Durlston Castle and see the giant globe & the maximised from the cliffs. The off walks are bril too :)
