Double Bridle Recommendation...

Hi,

I posted a while ago about moving my cob into a double and I'm going to go for it.

I know that its silly spending a lot of money on one before I know that we are settled but we need one for our yard anyway.

I have a slightly flexible budget of £275.

The ones that have caught my eye are the Albion KB (I have this as a snaffle), Passier Hubertus Schmidt and the GFS PDS Rolled (Its on Equestrian Clearance :) )

I've found an Amerigo at a decent price but its patent and I fear this won't weather well as an everyday/competition bridle.

I like a nice padded noseband and headpiece :)
Advice welcome!
 
My friend has the GFS rolled one and it has both faded and stretched in three months (only used for comps) she is sending it back!
 
Albion for me! Have got the snaffle and double and they fit really well and my chap seems comfortable in them :)
 
Have a look at world exclusive bling on Facebook there's some really nice patent doubles on there, my trainer has just had one and loves it! I use a patent snaffle for everyday and not had any problems
 
I have had the GFS Rolled snaffle and Double Bridle for 6 months, and use them around 3 times per week for an hour and they still look great. The leather is lovely and supple.
 
I have the passier HS one and it is lovely. I have had it about 9 months and it was supple from day 1 and has remained so. The headpiece is really well padded and the padding is soft, unlike some bridles where it can be quite hard.

I think that it is quite a fine bridle - I have it on a very fine TB and it suits him as it doesnt overpower his face.

Once again, if you feel i am rude, unhelpfull, ect then im sorry, but you carnt please everybody,but we have sold over 1400 items this year and yours is 1st complainte,

Nokia I hate to say it but I would be put off buying anything from you after reading your responses. You do come across as unprofessional. You should have PM'd BH not done it publicly.

Remember, the customer is always right in business. You should not publicly respond in such a defensive manner - it really does put people off. Including me.

Haha!! Oh how they have made themselves look professional and helpful!! I haven't got a clue who they are - and probably couldn't afford their stuff anyway - but when I read their response was put off automatically!

I am not friends with bh - I am only friends with Cobrastyle on here. I just thought your response was very unprofessional. I actually think this response is the icing on the cake. You spell extremely badly, which is a bad advertisement for your company, and you are STILL bad mouthing BH on a public forum. Please do yourself a favour and start PM'ing instead.

A person is entitled to comment on any product they have bought, regardless of whether they have or haven't contacted the company. They were asked for opinions on products and gave their thoughts based on their personal experience.

To then go on and continue to comment further on in the rest of the tread and think that this has given you good publicity is simple astounding :rolleyes:

No, I don't think you have done yourself nor your business any favours IMO. Just because you have gotten 70 odd hits on your website doesn't mean its good, we have all probably gone and had a look to see what the fuss is all about, not to buy something.

Your 'customer service' is lacking somewhat.

Oh, and no, I don't know BH and have never met them before you comment on me being a 'friend' of them.

Nokia - you could well be offering the absolute best leather work in the world, but if you cannot handle customers in an appropriate manner you will just be giving yourself headaches. You are of course more than entitled to come on this forum, but the way you have spoken to b_h on an open forum is unprofessional. Pm her if you have a problem with what she's saying.

This is an open forum - your bridle is NOT the only one that has been criticised. People are more that entitled to their opinions, and this is why I use this forum - to get some others opinions about things I am not sure of - buying a bridle would a be a very good example of this.

B_h has just commented on her personal opinion of the bridle, and if you're business is going so well and you can't keep up with demand as you say, then (a) one persons opinion will not matter and (b) the vast number of other customers will not worry about one person on HHO.

Funnily enough, people in 2012 have the right to free speech, and if someone wants to air their experiences with a product then they are completely entitled to.
To accuse them of deliberately blackening your name just smacks of immaturity and unprofessional-ism.

(And no, I don't know BH from Jack, don't think I've even commented on one of her threads before!)

I have just purchased a premiera double bridle from here:

It doesn't look like any one from england has bought one yet after trying to look for reviews but after looking through a lot of double bridles (my limit was £200) this was the only one I really liked the look of. I will let you know what I think of it once it arrives if you like? But people abroad have said it is super quality and only £82 thought it was worth a try!

The other ones I would of considered were evison equine as found nothing but good reviews on their stuff.
Also was looking at FSS but found really mixed reviews on them.
I liked the look of passier but, again found really mixed reviews and didn't want to dish out a lot of money for something that may be just "ok".
Albion I think are a little plain though their padding is good quality but a bit over priced imo.
Really don't like the amerigo bridles.
Was looking at wold's but I thought the bridle was a bit bulky for my petite thoroughbred with the buckles along the side on the rolled bridles instead of on the poll. However, this is only my opinion and i'm sure the bridles would look great on chunky warmblood type horses and have heard people say the leather is good quality.

It is the nicest bridle I've ever had (also have a Schockemohle and Elevator, had Albion) - I've had mine three years, using virtually every day, and people still keep asking me if it's new! I am a complete numpty at cleaning tack, so it gets a wipe with a sponge once in a blue moon and it's never stretched and none of the stitching has come out and it's so beautifully soft.

Sorry to rave, but I really love it and I especially love the price!!! :D

P.S. I do not have anything to do with the people who make these - in fact, I hadn't even realised they came from UK. I'm going to order a snaffle bridle as soon as I can afford it.
 
I'm on the lookout for one at the moment. Based on nokias reponse I'll stay clear of their company.

It's looking like I may well go for the Albion KB, like the mix and match approach on that.

I would say that I have a Sabre Cordoba snaffle bridle and it's fab. Would be very keen on the double version but doesn't quite tick my boxes for what I'm looking for. Couldn't fault the quality though for anyone on the lookout.
 
I have an Albion snaffle, Its lovely (when its clean!!) and if your horse is not the off the peg size wise, you can get different sizes pieces, very useful.
 
I have an elevator snaffle and leather does stretch loads plus leather fades and isn't that soft and padding isn't squishy at all so wouldn't get another.
 
Kate Negus for me, the leather work far exceeds the KB bridle of which i have also.
FWIW i have a wold exclusive bling browband on my KN double & it's lovely super quality for the price.
 
I have a rolled double bridle from Morgan Equine, its an Isabell Worth "Satchmo" bridle, i've had it about three years and it still looks good as new, fab quality, i'd really recommend it, and its only 280 pounds. But thank you all for the recommendations, i'm looking for a nice new snaffle for my youngster, but i'm a bit skint, so thank you all for all the great sites!
 
Kate Negus. I have the patent double (I've put a bling browband on it), bought three years ago and the leather is fab, no stretching and noseband as "patent" as when it was new. Very pleased. I'm a fan on brass buckles which is why I went for it originally, but it has lasted well and looks super smart. Currently residing on the tack room wall until my new baby horse is old enough to need it! :o
