Double Bridle

Hello.
When it comes to showing in a double, do all the buckles have to be on the nearside? ie 2 buckles on the offside and 5, with noseband and headslip, on the nearside. Or can you even it up by putting the headslip buckle of the offside and noseband on the near, ie 3 buckles offside and 4 nearside ?
Hope this makes sense.
