5 years ago a horse of mine who I had had from a foal was PTS due to numerous problems, He was sickly for most of his life but was only 10. I then bought a lovely Irish draught x TB who again developed problems after a couple of years which resulted in a fractured pelvis, kissing spine and bone cysts to name but a few of his problems. He was 7 when I bought him and 10 when he was PTS, Now my mare, who I bought as an 8 year old to replace the previous, is now 10 and has gone lame. The vet has been and says it,s a hind leg, Nothing obvious and she has to go to horsepital next week for a full lameness work up. I am saddened and gutted that she may not be fixable and that I'm not destined to own a horse over the age of 10!
Ever since I have owned her ( and all my horses were vetted prior to purchase) she has had a tendancy to buck, and she is consistant. Not really bad bucks but disgruntled ones. Generally thinking about the way she goes, my suspicions with what is wrong with her lead me towards kissing spine or general back problem, but untill she has been examined thoroughly I wont know. I feel so upset.
It seems that some people like me, are not destined to own a sound horse. Sorry to sound so miserable but I really can't believe it's happening all over again. She goes in on monday night for a tuesday workup. Vibes please that my Missy cow is fixable.
