Until i can save enough to buy a small lorry i have a trailer.
Love my 4x4 though so would always have that!

Sadly i no longer need a large trailer.
Sad good bye to my 17.2 warmblood a few months ago.
I have a 16.1hh tb and now my daughter has just joined the pony club we will be taking her 11.2hh welsh places.

So i thought downsizing the trailer would be a good idea.

I currently have an ifor williams hb510.
Ive had it 6 years and its about 10 years old.
Good condition and aluminium flooe.
But how much do i advertise it for?
 
Sorry, i dont know really but could you call round a few dealers maybe and see what sort of prices they are fetching? or search round some online sites.
I have a 505- brilliant little trailers!
 
I've just sold a 6 yr old hb505 that I owned for 3 years. One previous owner from new and in immaculate condition. I got exactly what I paid for it. They really do hold their value!
 
Speak to a dealer about part ex, they often have second hand in as trade ins for new ones. That way you know you are getting one that has been checked and serviced and will prob have a bit of a warranty.
I part ex'd a 21 yr old 505 which I'd had for 15 yrs. I got same as paid for it and as I bought a new 510 they did me a great deal too. I could have had a used 510 but the deal he offered meant the new one wasn't much more.
 
Shame you're not nearer to me, I want to change my 505 for a 510.

Anyway, have a look for ones that are for sale to get an idea of price. Ebay often have quite a few on there.
 
Why bother? If you already have the tow vehicle then why compromise the space that you already have, handy for getting changed in, storage of equipment etc. I recently sold my lorry to go back to a trailer for 2 x 15h but I bought a large three horse and its great for having room to sit in if the weather is iffy, I can even load them backwards so they can stand and look out and eat out of the ramp end then I don't get covered in hay while I get myself sorted!

Trouble is my daughters pony is 11.2. He is way smaller than the breast bar.
He can get his head under iti know i could get it moved but feel it would be safe in a smaller trailer.
My tb is also lost in the bigger trailer too!
 
I'm sure I've heard of people adding lower attachment points for the breastbars to suit smaller horses - it's probably a lot easier to do that than sell one trailer and buy another!

ETA - Just had a quick google - there are lots of comments about trailers being too long for the littler ponies, and needing the breech bar brought forward, which you'd need to do in a 505 anyway, I imagine, so you could just get both bars moved at the same time.

I did just this when I owned an IW many years ago, my Tb was 16h and my daughters pony was 11.2, We drilled a hole in the lower curved part of the partition for the back bar and added a loop fixing on the outer wall, did the same at the front.
 
I would keep the 510 as horses prefer more head room. If your horse is 16.1 hh then that is only one inch off the maximum height a 505 could carry. I don't have any horses over 16.1 hh but will be keeping my 510. You never know when you may need the extra room.
 
We have a 505 and had to put in a set of lower brackets for the bars for the 11.2 we used to take out. Wasn't expensive, needed and electric drill and took about 10 mins each I think. The one thing I find tricky when we take 2 ponies out is lack of space if it's raining. We have a tack pack, and could do with a touch extra space around it. If we had had the lower bars set back for the 11.2 then there would have been a bit more space. Personally I'd keep it, presumably your daughter won't be on the 11.2 for long, give it 2-3 years and I expect she'll be after a 13.2 or 14.2 and in 6 -8 years time she'll be wanting a horse too, better a trailer you know....
 
I too would stick with what you've got.
I don't think the breast bar on the 505 goes considerably lower than the 510 does it?
