dr bristol fitting

We have a pony who can be quite strong and leans down on the bit. Somone suggested trying a Dr Bristol, but having bought one, could you advise me which way the central plate should sit in the mouth. (don't want to get it back to front!)
Also, anyone got any bit suggestions other than the Dr Bristol? The pony is not super strong but my son wants to hunt this season and want to make sure he is safe.

i think waterfords are quite good when the horse tries to lean personally.

Another one who would recommend the waterford, my tb leans on the bit but hasn't since I changed it to the waterford. Just wish they were dressage legal.

Curved inwards, bear in mind that a Dr. Bristol is a fairly severe bit. It didnt stop my pony either he just got heavier.

Thanks all. The pony puts its head down, then leans.
Will a waterford snaffle help with breaks as well as leaning? I have seen a 3 ring waterford gag but was worried the gag action would encourage the head down more.

my boy leans a lot. Tried so many different bits including many variations of waterford including gag/palham/loose ring. Also tried a dr bristol with no effect. Best bit by far was the neule schule universal which he is wearing now, he goes so well in it!
