Dr riders - crest sliding or crest flipping?

the neutral question has me thinking too, I think when straight crest is straight up would have to ride him and pay more attention to be sure though which isnt going to happen any time soon! Will try and get a video of crest flip next weekend if nobody gets one sooner (and providing his loaner is actually willing to let his poor old owner on board ;))

Yes I've been taught it, my old trainer (British, Hannah Moody if anyone wants to know..) did it with my old pony, to show that he was completely soft and relaxed, it was great to show me he was connected, helped me and my pony a lot!

I train with someone who has trained with the moodys and she has never mentioned this? I've never heard of it either

I have a lesson on Tuesday and I will ask her what she thinks :)

Crikey Ronnie used to do this when we were changing the bend - but I thought it was a bad thing - it looked frightening - like something sliding over something it shouldn't! I've never heard of it before (except I was reading a BD magazine (old one) the other night and didn't really understand what it was on about, but I think it might have been on about this). Wow I want to go and try it with Bill - though I think he holds too much tension yet to do this, having read that thread you directed us to, K, thank you.

Gosh it's amazing how important this sounds and how so many of us knew nothing (admittedly I'm not likely to, given my inexperience).

Yep come across it but not done it in a long while as haven't had a horse soft enough. Now that's a damning comment isn't it. Also it's been so long it's not something I'd try on my own.

Could some one explain in very small words what you should see when the 'crest flips' as I've watched the video & read the other thread and still have no idea what is going on :o

Also what is crest sliding? A smoother flip?

Thanks, the blonde in the corner.
