Drag hunting in Leicestershire?

Hi

First, you might want to move this post to the hunting section of the forum.
Second, yes there are a number of registered Drag packs in the country that were drag hunting before the ban.
Hope this helps
:)

If you want to be sure of cruelty free (for want of a better expression) hunting then you might be best to look for Blood Hound Packs, they do hunt live quarry, but it is normally a man in running shoes and leggings! And the hounds lick him when they catch him rather than killing him!

It isn't the same as drag hunting, that is hunting an artificial trail, bloodhounding is "hunting the clean boot" i.e the natural scent of a man.

The other packs may follow a trail or they may hunt live quarry within the law.

The Four Shires Blood Hounds may cover your area.....

From what I know leics hasn't got blood hounds or a drag hunt. It's a big hunting county

It definitely is a big hunting county and I'm very lucky that I have several packs within easy reach! :)

I was merely wondering whether there were any alternatives to actual hunting. There are a lot of people that I know who would love to give it a go but are not sure whether they could hunt foxes. It would be nice for them to try it and not have to fight with their beliefs so i thought I'd do a bit of research.....instead of working!! :)

We most certainly DO have bloodhounds and drag hunts!! The Cambridge Draghounds usually hold at least one meet in Leicestershire, and the Readyfield Bloodhounds hold many meets over Leicestershire. These meets tend to be very popular with an average field containing 200+ horses and riders!!

We are spoilt for choice here though having some of the best hunting country out of the whole of the UK! I go out with the Cottesmore regularly and have been out with the Quorn too. :)
