Just seen this, saysin the advert "Lady is a 16hh heavyweight skewbald Irish Cob mare. 6 years old, Born 7/5/2007. "

So why is she passported with "The British Lipizanner Society"

Just wondering, because she is clearly not a Lipi! ?

The lipi soc took over pport issuing from the gypsy cob society when their authorisation to issue passports was removed by Defra, any breed soc can issue generic pps for another breed eg Cleveland bay soc did so for York auctions at one point. It gives the socs some income. Defra approved it re lipi soc

Ned is now passported with the Lipizzaner Society and he's a Standardbred, as above, they took over from Gypsy Cob Society

Merry is passported with the appaloosa society as a non appy. Its only because the person that registered her is a member so it was the cheapest way for them to get her passported

i think id be more concerned about the fact she says it can carry 18 stone+ !!! poor horse

I would be more bothered about being advertised able to carry 18 stone plus to be honest rather than which society she's registered with

My late Clydie was passported by the Donkey Breed Society. At the time, the DBS was the most economical, at £10 per passport.

£900 and the know how to produce it would give you a good stamp of useful cob.
