Dragonfly for saddle fitting

I've used them *think* it was Richard that came out and all was well, we needed a new saddle - for a new horse - and he didnt have the correct one in stock, I liked the ideal jessica so he had to order one in, and he very kindly lent me one whilst I waited so I could ride in the meantime.

I dont need a new one, just reflocking and made a bit narrower. I dont want to be sold one either!

Penfolds, who came up in a search are fully booked until end of July

Martin at Penfolds is very good with reflocking so may be worth the wait.

Have never used Dragonfly so can't make a comment as to what they are like.

I've also heard good things about Andrew Reilly for reflocking saddles too.

It would mean my horse is out of work for *another* 8 weeks, having already had 4 off from lameness then colic, so it would be 12 in total - I cant wait that long.

Sorry cant comment on Dragonfly but after a near disaster with penfolds I have used John at Wealden saddlery who really took time to make sure that the saddle fitted both me and my horse. They prob won't have a website but you could try a ring.

Yes, I use Richard from Dragonfly, and both he and his wife Sue are very good. They are easy to get hold of, usually manage a quick appointment, are on time and will re-flock on site. Have used them for several years for both my boys and never had a problem.

Andrew Reilly is also very good but notoriously hard to get hold of, and usually takes ages to make an appointment!

Yay or ney??

Penfolds are fully booked till end of July, cant wait that long!!

Mmmmm - haven't had good reports from the one in Ditchling and don't use the one in Cuckfield.

I use Colin Lisle (works from home) and travels Sussex and beyond. He makes saddles from scratch - made-to-measure and you can virtually have what you want. I'm sure he will be able to flock yours... he's done mine and neighbours in the past.
The plus factor is that you don't have to take out a mortgage for a new saddle.

Please PM me if you would like his tel. no.

Thanks.

... and forgot to mention that he usually has a saddle for you to use whilst yours is out of action.... I know quite a few people who have had new saddles from him and also saddles flocked/repaired. He doesn't take long either. I hope that helps.

Unfortunately John from Wealden Saddlery passed away a while ago

Richard from dragonfly never flocks on site! Also dragonfly is no longer based at Ditchling just to make it clear, they are now in hassocks.

Hmmm well I had Richard from Dragonfly out for my pony last week and he was very nice and has ordered me a lovely saddle. He def does flock on site as he did another horse owners at my yard!

My friend tried Penfolds, but as she wasn't buying a new one, they couldn't come out for 2 months.

I just think there is a reason why penfolds has a waiting list and can't fit people in for months while Dragonfly can fit people in almost immediatly. I have used richard and he always insisted on taking saddle away to flock as he did with everyone elses saddles.

Can I point out ponyfeet isnt exactly telling the truth, thinking a huge proportion of there posts on here links to dragonfly products, reccommends products from dragonfly etc! think enough said :p

Blimey! Sorry I gave my opinion! I'm a newbie so I've not been too far! Like I say, each to their own. I also like Equestrian Clearence and Surrey Equestrian.

I can say from personal experience Dragonfly=BIG NO NO, Penfolds=BIG YES! As has already been posted, there is a reason why Penfolds have a long waiting list and Dragonfly don't. Don't waste your money!
