Dramatic clipping day !!!!

Supposed to be about 25 Degrees C here tomorrow! And when we get a cold winter I will eat a sock.. We haven't had a "cold" winter for far too long!

There were cold days when I was there last year in September. You have snow which usually comes with North wind. Rain, sleet and snow get into sensitive ears, at least if you leave the inside on it reduces what goes into the ear.

that is very true, as with all clipping I do my best to clip when we have a mild spell-I first clipped 3 and a half weeks ago and did her ears, her ears were not done this time and wont be done again this winter as they wont need it

OK - that's different then - so clip them out early and they have grown back in tidily by the time the bad weather kicks in

I am still having flashbacks to last year...Alf is angelic to clip - I did 99% of him with the rope over his neck while he dozed. Then I dared to try and tackle his ears. He told me very clearly that that wasn't going to happen - and ended up sporting a woolly hat for a week while I pondered my next move!

Tnvas - I wish we had snow, we haven't had snow down here for about 3 years I think.

Auslander - I remember that.. it was funny. ;)

I have to clip my Welsh D who currently resembles a Moose today.. Great.

My cob is sweating in this weather! Need a cooler day so I can clip her, she loves being clipped. One year my clippers broke half way through a clip and took two weeks to be repaired, so poor pony had half a clip for a while!

mine can get a bit handy with his front feet, when he's sedated he's a darling to clip though.

I can remember the story about the time my old instructor was clipping him and had a close shave, as she went to do the top half of his neck the front foot came up and she moved away and nearly shaved the top of her own head off.

He was good to clip last year though, instructor only took half his neck and face off and gave him a very neat trace clip, where his neck was clipped more represented the 'safe' area than it was intentional! he did look very smart in it though, especially as his under chin beard went so he looked more like a horse than an overgrown shetland :)
