Draw Reins/Side Reins IN A STABLE???

Apart from anything else mentioned it could cause choke eating in that position
Try putting your chin down towards your chest and swallowing--very constricted
Definitely worth a chat on phone with WHW or local BHS Welfare volunteer.
 
Poor thing. Stupid owners should try being stuck in the same position all the time and see how they like it. Disgusting.

I'd be tempted to go and take them off as well.

Isn't this actually what they do to torture Prisoners of war?! (Just cottoned on to what you were talking about - my horse could comfortably fall asleep, scratch a knee and eat hay when I left his elastic training reins on)
 
That is utterly disgusting!! The horse must be suffering unbearable pain, not to mention the other issues of not being able to eat, drink properly and it will probably end up with a bad back too!!

Some people really are truly despicable. OP, someone needs to be told about this - pref the YO.
 
Take some scissors to the things, then deny all knowledge of it. At least it will give the horse some freedom until evil owner can buy some new ones. Has no one on the yard complained to her about it?
