I use draw reins and have no problems but my friend is having a few probs! anybody got any good advice this is what she said she struggled with x

"Because they get all twisted and the long loop keeps disappearing under numnah and I have to keep pulling it out and I don’t know whether I put them through outside of bit in wards of from inwards to outwards and whether I hold them above or below rein ?"

Here we go again......

if your friend cant use them properly she shouldnt be useing them without supervision/instruction.

If used incorrectly than can cause all sorts of problems and incorrect muscular development in the horse.

I could bang on for hours about them, but i wont......

I totally agree!

I agree they should only be used by experienced hand or under supervision. They are not to be used as a quick fix, the horse needs to be moving from behind into the reins

the post was for my friend who has just joined h & h forum ! she uses them in her lessons of her insructor who is a well known top international rider ! but she just struggled as ppl have told her different things !

if she has lessons with a top international rider, then why is she asking for advice on here? Id be asking my trainer.

Thats not meant to sound rude by the way - just curious!! x

noone is jumping down your throat, we are all just curious as to why this person hasnt asked her instructor if she cant use them properly. Thats what instructors are for. If she feels she cant ask her instructor a question then i feel its time for a change

yes she just asked me and i said u shud try h & h out ther really helpfull for anything . p.s i have gave her my advice thanks

im sure she now will not join h and h and she will ask her insructor she keeps her horse on his yard and wont be changing he is a fantastic instructor !

Does she have lessons in draw reins? .. surely any decent instructor would pick up on this if they were incorrectly fitted?!
also i echo above posts - if she doesnt know how to use them - shes silly for putting them on in the first place.
