It was my last event of the very short season I have had with Bud due to his lameness but I have a smile.
After a full clip on Saturday and a good bath he looked better than ever (in my opinion!!) and wrapping him up in his PJs did the trick he'd managed not to find any gaps for stables stains Sunday morning!!
Bud warmed up well for dressage, unfortunately test didn't go quite as well and I came out quite deflated - felt it wasn't as good as last 2 we've done but still a whole heap better than he used to do with his bucks and camel impressions!
Then LONG wait, walked XC thought it was fairly straight forward all be it a bit twisty, well presented but not many questions. Saw SJ course and thought it was the Intro to find out no Intro on the Sunday! It was SO small I couldn't believe it.
Dressage score finally appeared 36.5 - which I thought was about right for test I did and could see disappointingly wouldn't really be in with a chance against 24 26 and 28s!!
We went down to SJ bit early, chaos organisation, Bud warmed in badly and I thought he'd make mess as nothing to make him use himself - but he proved me wrong and jumped lovely clear.
Quick change of gear and back down to XC, no one was waiting so after couple warm up fences we were off after doing few interesting movements towards start box! He gets so excited bless him.
He did lovely round jumped everything very easily and in much better rhythm, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
So I ended with double clear no time, just dressage mark let me down. They were taking so long with the scores and I had to ask 3 times about getting dressage sheets - eventually got my sheet and left. I checked this morning and I ended up 12th so not too bad considering we were against much much more experienced horses.
So my boy did me proud, as usual, let him off for the dressage. He's now having a little holiday for week or so then we'll have a good crack at indoor bsja season and fit some unaf dressage in between all in preparation to hopefully have good go at Novice next year!
Thanks for reading - hope to get video up later in week! and I keep checking photographer website as didn't get to see any yesterday!! I hope there's good one!
