My lovely mare seems to have developed another sarcoid near her eye. She has the iridium wires a few years ago and has had the odd sarcoid develop in the usual places which have been treated using cream and one was cut out - These have not returned.

At the weekend I spotted a small pea sized lump near her eye, the same one she had the wires on a few years ago. The vet came today and suggests Introleasional (no idea of spelling) BCG injections. Has anyone had any success with this. Cream is a no go as its so near her eye.

I also wondered if anyone had used a contact supplement in their sarcoid prone horses feed that keeps them away... or at least appears to. My friend recommended Thuja. Has anyone used this?

Thanks :-(

Mine has a few sarcoids. A big one inside her hindleg was treated with Liverpool cream last year and one on her upper eyelid was treated with retinol cream. Both treatments worked about 95% and I tried Global herbs Sarcex to finish them off and also tackle a couple of tiny nodular ones by her tail. I've just started a third tub and there is definite shrinkage in all of them!

Try contacting Jeremy kemp. He is a lecturer at my uni and a sarcoid specialist and has had amazing results.
He uses laser surgery and this light therapy around the eye with really good results. But Radiotherapy also works quite well around the eye.
I have heard the BCG hasnt had totally good results and sometimes can make it worse but apparently it works a bit better around the eye than other places.
