Loss of use form came through the post today, it's official there is no more they can do for Scout our sweet little bay TB in my siggy, he is only 8yo but the fragmentation of his pedal bone has got worse not better. Cried even though I knew the letter would be coming, daft I know.

So we have to start looking again for another horse for my 14yo to event, but can not get inspired, school will be more demanding for the next two years hence we bought last year, so have to find something who has done a bit, but she has not had her own horse to ride so is keen to get out and do something before winter is upon us but everything seems to be as green as grass or done loads but with maybe not such a good record, not found anything just starting out with all the basics in place. Not inspired at all I seem to be reading all sorts between the line of ads and am writing them off before even ringing up. Still have two horses to see from fellow HHoer's so maybe we'll be lucky and one will be just right and search will be over.

Sorry turned out so long, wine and nibbles for getting this far?

It's hard looking for a horse in your circumstances. We had Sammy pts unexpectedly back when I was 16yrs old. He was my competition horse, but sadly ruptured a ligament and despite extensive treatment was still lame and had to be pts.
I was lucky my Mum did all the searching for me. Like you we wanted something that had done some stuff but that I could develop with. In some ways we were lucky that budget didn't allow that so I ended up with a wonderful freshly backed 4yr old who wasn't what we were looking for but we both fell in love with immediately.
Trust your judgment and be patient. The right horse will come along and you'll know when you see it (even if it doesn't meet your criteria!). Good luck.

It must be really tough for you both. I'm afraid I never been in your situation so can't offer you any pearls of wisdom, but wishing you good luck with your search.

Thanks Marchtime really comforting words, funnily enough although it is not due to budget we have a 4yo to look at too!

Going to keep all my options open, so we hopefully find the right one!

I'm also looking for my 14yr old. She lacks confidence and we bought a Section D in April who proved very naughty and too strong - big mistake!! So we're looking for something well schooled but SAFE. Have tried several but nothing suits - going back tomorrow with our instructor to a dealer to try one again (fingers crossed). Trouble is the SAFE ones are the expensive ones!! Everytime I ring up about one, it's already gone - you've got to be really quick off the mark. GOOD LUCK

Hey - I can understand your worry. I lost my wonderful cob at the start of the summer very unexpectedly. I have had my new horse a week!!! he is great but took me time to find- i would say have certain criteria that you will not budge on but have other things you will. My friend found my new nag for me as she is a demon on the advert spotting.

Good luck and i hope you find somthing soon xx

I know exactly where you're coming from. My dream come true horse looks like she is going to be a LOU claim, but I feel totally uninspired at the prospect of looking for another. I don't believe anything will ever compare to her.....

I echo Marchtime. My girl Tiggy was the second horse I saw: wrong sex, age, height - I bought her and loved her to bits.

When I lost Tigs, I viewed so many horses - then ended up with the one horse I'd seen before I met Tigs.

Hugs hunny.

Thanks all I reckon if I end up too tough and putting myself off before I phone will just have to stick on here for some second opinions, LOL
