Dream Horse?

As a little girl, I read every single pony book I could lay my hands on - I used to cut pictures out of the Horse and Hound and name all the horses. My mother was a hunt groom looking after giant 17hh horses who were kind enough to let me gently feed them carrots. As I grew older I had my own ponies (arabian, cob, welsh), then horses (tb x connemara, Irish, TB), then did my BHS exams and was a groom myself taking care of jumpers, eventers, polo ponies and hacks - I loved them all, but my dream horse has always been an elegant Andalusian. I have never ridden one - but secretly still harbour a wish that one day I will own one. Just for fun, I wondered if, those of you who own/ride/care for horses have your "dream horse", or, if not, what breed/colour would you choose and why?
 
lol! I have always had one since I was little, mine is 15.1 or 2, a golden palomino with beautiful dapples in his (it was always a he) shiny coat, beautiful blonde almost white mane and tail, not thick or curly just straight long and shiny, medium built, totally bombproof and sweet but would jump the moon if I wanted. Not sure what breed he is TBH!

...instead I have an aged bay roan pony that I cant ride (my kids do) cause hes too small. though hes bombproof and sweet :)
 
Mine was a dark dapple grey Arabian stallion called Storm, but who was a rather unusual Arabian in that he was 17hh and could jump 7ft. :D Well I said he was a dream horse right?? ;) He now sounds like my idea of hell and I couldn't even vaguely manage him although I would love to be able to own something like that. One can only dream :)
 
Mine was from a poster I pulled out of a pony mag, of a dark bay andalusian stallion rearing, I used to stare at it as i went to sleep.

15 years later I ended up with this:

Ok, he's a bit smaller and is more chocolate brown, but he still fulfils my childhood dream!

I was also a sucker for a dapple grey arabian...not got one of those yet!
 
I think some of you are going to hate me, but .....

for 20 years i had a palomino 7/8 Arabian mare who was bomb proof. bit forward coming home, but nothing nasty. we had "join up" years before i had heard the term.

Like many others my ambitions moved on to the mythical dressage warmblood, that is affordable (under £5K), pleasant to hack (alone and traffic), easy to handle and has oodles of talent. Bought one by accident. he was a grumpy, stuffy little horse who turned out to have a sore back and dodgy teeth. Thousands have been spent on made to measure saddle, physio and dentist. Now very privilidged to have my dream horse. No...he is not for sale!

:) Umm, he's a QH and he's in one of my pastures, and yes, he even has the dapples. The only problem is that he won't walk over a pole let alone jump one, and was once stuck in his paddock for a week because the gateway was flooded and he doesn't DO water! Wuss.

I had lots of dream horses over the years - one who actually featured in dreams was a black arabian colt/stallion (he was a foal when I was about 5, grew up eventually!) yet was odd in having lots of white on him, so guessing he wasn't full arab xP
He's now somewhat my logo/symbol whatever, haven't managed to find one that looks like that so I just draw him! :o :p
 
My dream horse was a perfect, glossy black stallion with a thick flowing mane and tail. Funny thing is, my first horse ended up being just that - he was a 4 year old Morgan stallion. He was 14.1, shiny black without a spot of white on him and had the thickest, most elegant mane and tail you every saw.

I was 10 and he was so sweet and gentle and patient - a perfect first horse. We had him gelded and I learned so much from him. Wish I had a pic on this computer - he was just what I'd always dreamed of.
 
I think as a child - there were books that influenced my tastes too - I loved Walter Farley's Black Stallion series, The Brumby books and the Ginny and Shantih books. Even now, Black Beauty really effects me too.
 
My dream horse was a high % arab palomino with a white mane and tail 2 stockings, very araby looking but stocky. 10 years ago I watched him be born only to lose him to someone else, it's ok because at 18 months and after being rescued I saw him advertised and bought him back. I love him dearly he's everything and more than the horse from my wildest dream!

I always wanted a feisty chestnut or black Arabian to gallop over the moors on. I have a gorgeous, fun, slightly bokers chestnut arab gelding on part loan. But my dream horse turned out to be a beautiful black arab mare, the sweetest i have ever met. She goes to her new home at the other end of the country tomorrow. I hope one day i will meet her again, or even own her. Maybe one of her offspring? I still dream, i suppose.
 
When I was younger, my 'dream horse' was a Danish or Dutch Warmblood...

3 years ago I bought a grey Danish Warmblood - He's my dream horse and has made some of my dreams come true too! :)

Drools alot:D This guy is the most stunning beast i have ever seen...but you know i think that already,lol!!:)

and OMG there he is !!!!!!!!!!! Dont care if he wont walk over a puddle or pole, I could just stare at him for days on end!!!!
lol! Yes, QH is about right. He was also in a set of books which I cant remember the title of, set on a ranch in USA with his young owner I wish I knew what they were I would read them again! Always dreamed that girl was me....lol!
 
iv got my dream horse :) If i could have another one aswell as her it would be... 15.2 coloured gypsy cob, huge thick mane and tail and feathers to die for :)
