I can't stop crying with relief - I'm blubbing as I type this. She's going to be ok. Vet has been twice today and she's had loads of antibiotics and oxytocin.

Her temperature is now nearly normal and she hasn't foundered. Vet says we caught it just in time. She's still spewing out gunk and is off colour, but she's picking at some hay and taking interest in her foal which is a really good sign. She still has plenty of milk and foalie is full of the joys.

I have to jab her twice a day, and the vet is coming back on Friday afternoon (unless she deteriorates in the meantime) to reassess.

I did quiz my vet over the pulling of the afterbirth incident but he is 100% certain that it is not the cause - I still reserve judgement, but my priority is to get Dream well again.

The TSS scare is over, but he now tells me that there may be damage inside so this could have been her last foal

I will know more on Friday I hope.

Still, at least she is on the mend, and her foalie is thriving.

The BIGGEST thankyou to everyone on here for your support and well wishes, it means a lot, thankyou. xxx

So pleased for you hope she continues to recover.
You may be able to reassess her insides when her uterus has closed down a bit.
They often do heal really well though

What fantastic news! Brave mare! So thrilled to hear news, and we'll all keep the vibes going so she continues to improve. Big hugs to both

I'm so happy for you, for Dream, and perhaps moreso for her little foal.

Hopefully it won't take her too long to recover fully from this, even if it means that her days as a broodmare are over.

That is such a relief - the first few words of your post made my blood run cold! Fingers crossed she makes a full recovery. Once the antibiotics kick in it should be pretty rapid.
