I would like to get myself some Blue riding boots. I have my eye on some DeNiros. Can I compete dressage on n anything other than black riding boots and black competition jacket?

BS allows plain navy or navy with mahogany/patent tops, BD handbook states conventional boots, i would assume that would include navy blue.

definite no-no for ridden showing, but showjumping and dressage you’ll be okay.

personally, i love blue boots with a blue hat, but i don’t do dressage or jump?

Also, in response to the part about black jacket, dressage is any muted tones, so navy/burgundy/dark green etc are all accepted, just not as common since it’s not as traditional. for showjumping you can most definitely branch out a bit more?

BD have relaxed their dress rules a bit and I compete either in blue boots, blue jacket and blue hat or in winter grey jacket (it is warmer than the blue), black boots and black hat.

I have dressaged in Navy jacket and Navy boots and Grey Jacket and Grey boots (I used to show and have got giddy with Matchy matchy!)
IMG_4809.JPG This is my greyboots at BD and you can see they are not "subtle" to my showing mind.
Personally I wouldn't get a pair of Navy De Niro's for showing - I have a very plain old pair of Mountain horse boots to show in with my tweed.
