Dressage at DABBS/Howe Country Centre - Fife

I was at the SJ on Sunday (7th), no trace of snow! It was fairly quiet though, I think everyone was hibernating/Christmas shopping instead!

I was there in the freezing cold doing an unaffiliated elementary and my first ever affiliated (albeit on a ticket!) Was second in the unaffiliated and won the affiliated. Now going to retire from affiliated competiton undefeated

There was only about 5 in both the elementaries and loads of withdrawals. Judge has come up from Northumberland (spelling

)which I tought was pretty dedicated! and has ages to wait between tests just incase people arrived. Felt quite sorry for her.

Think Dabbs are between websites at the moment as they were saying they couldn't upload schedules on to the old one and the new one wasn't ready. But don't know what the new ones address is I am afraid.

I was really hoping they would reschedule it, I was going to try out my first affiliated Novice test, unfortunately we were snowed in all week and couldn't get the horses out. I asked them about withdrawals and they said they had only about 3?!? I withdrew the week before - based on the forecast and they cashed the entries anyway - baa humbugs!!!

Don't know what's happened to the website, don't think they have a new one yet now it's been taken over.

Well done on the wins Rusty! Worth the trip out for sure.

Grayzerhorse, that's a real shame they didn't refund you when you gave them a decent amount of notice of your withdrawal.

SNEC were really good when I had to withdraw from their unaff dressage in May due to my horse going lame and ripped up my cheque.

Seems they're on a cost cutting mission though as the unaff SJ show was changed from prize money to trophies. Before I went I didn't think this would be an issue for me, but turns out we won 1 class and came 3rd in the other, so could have gone home with a profit after all! (if you ignore the diesel of course!

) Still, a plastic trophy and wee box of Celebrations is better than £40, isn't it?!

Seems milder here today, I've been getting fed up having to scrape the car every morning for what seems like forever!

Hi

I was there too i did the first two unaffilated classes both prelims, it was very cold and frozen car park. In fact i won both tests, im presuming only cause of the lack of entries. I did feel sorry for the people who ran later than myself as there was a lot of wasted time with ppl who had withdrew but hadnt called to let the organisers know.

Grayzer, that was a shame you couldnt get your money back especially with you withdrawing at a weeks notice! Ive heard they've dont that before.

Rusty, well done on your results too.
