Dressage at the London Horse Show

it’s not that I disliked it, the Tom Jones floor plan kind of became quite iconic in a way and I just didn’t feel this one.

They have metal spikes along the edge that dig into the horse's nose when used with the rein, it is why a lot of PREs have scars on their noses.
Some might, all don’t. Your post was misleading.

As I said in my first post I use one, and linked to a page of examples.

They are commonly used in Portugal by classical trainers. Nothing harsh.

Nothing wrong with serratas in general. I’m sure abusive ones do exist.

But saying serratas are abusive is a bit like saying bits are abusive. There are abusive bits but most aren’t.

I could post a picture of a horrendous bit in return (but I can’t be bothered).

Just because there are harsh abusive bits in existence doesn’t mean all bits are abusive.

Same with serratas there are many versions. The ones in my link are not abusive.
Yes but having watched their use many times in Spain with my own eyes (including just last month at SICAB) I think they should be consigned to history.

You are missing the point.

You’d I assume like to stop the use of serratas with jagged metal edges that cause pain and damage skin and bone.

Presumably you have no objection to the classical Portuguese use of serratas made with smooth metal and covered in leather padding. Typically used for in hand work. I bought mine in Portugal 10 years ago after having in hand lessons as it was so much more precise than the English cavesson I was using at the time.

My serrata is not in un- influential but it’s less harsh than lunging off the bit or pressure halter.

My quoting is messed up but for your recent post.

I know how they're used and I know they are common. They don't originate from kind beginnings and they have been used very harshly for many years. Yes there are ones that aren't as harsh and trainers that use them kindly, but there are a significant amount that don't.

I would like all of the spiked ones and metal only ones to be removed and only leather ones used but I doubt that will happen.

I digress now, sorry all.
