Can someone please clarify what should be worn for a Prelim/Novice dressage test (I am finding rules a little confusing).

Jacket: Black or Blue (tweed is permitted though)
Breeches: White (cream and beige also allowed)
Stock: White (are you allowed any colour?)
Boots: Long boots or johdpur boots with gaiters
Spurs: Permitted
Whip: permitted
Hat: Plain Black, Blue or Brown.

Thanks

If you are doing unaffiliated they are not too fussy you just need to be neat and tidy.
I wear tweed jacket, shirt and tie, black hat, biege jods. long black boots, black gloves because that is what I have. Gloves are a must. You may carry a whip.

A lot of people seem to wear black/navy jacket, white stock, white breeches.

It is more important that your horse has the correct equipment e.g. dressage legal bit

There are lots of knowledgeable people on here who will give you the right guidance I'm sure.
