As i mentioned in my last thread i have a cob to start next year and in the future was hoping to do a bit of dressage with her. She moves well - but i think she maybe a kick along plod though judging by the way she walks out - i literally have to drag her back as she walks so slow, taking everything in her stride!! shes so laid back, shes more like a dog than a cob!
Also when the time comes what would you do with her appearance wise? her mane is really long and thick as is her tail but she hasnt really got alot of feather to pull it all off? would you pull the mane or hog it and clip the feather or let it all hang out :D i know its way off yet but some suggestions would be good :)
She will be living out this winter again as she always does so will be turning into a yeti anytime soon!
Here she is, the scrumptious Daisy :D

How pretty is she! I would be inclined to leave it all on. From her face it looks like she has alot of pink skin. If you trim tail and hog her mane then I guess you'll have her feather off, leaving pink heels - bit of a pain to deal with! Though how much she will be living out would prob affect your decision too. If you have her in more then it gives you more choice as you won't have to faff so much with sunscreen etc! I do prefer cobs with all their hair on!

i did some dressage with my cob thats im my signature thingey, we found showing lots more fun tho :P your cobs lovely, i would probs leave the hair on, but this is from a showing point of view as i think yours would probs look best as a hairy :)

Yes deffo leaving her hairy untill competition time :)
Her tail is a mass of dreadlocks at the moment, its so thick and long too! planning to do some serious tail grooming and trimming next week, its so long its starting to trail :o
Her mane is the same although its more manageble and dreadlock -free!
She keeps herself surprisingly clean considering shes out 24/7 :)

Daisy looks lovely as a hairy. This is a picture of my boy and my daughter at their first dressage competition. He's got pink skin too and as he's hogged/clipped legs he's stabled in the hottest part of the day to keep him out of the sun and wears a fly rug and full face fly mask to help keep the sun off him. Sorry if the picture is HUGE!

I personally prefer mine clipped but given the recent 'I will kill you rather than allow my legs to be clipped' issues, I fear he may remain hairy for our future dressage tests!

Having seen a very hairy mare do dressage, I think they look amazing with feathers flying as they go.

Heres my little cob doing dressage, i hog and trim him but if you wanted to leave your cob hairy im sure he/she would look lovely as a traditional too.
I waited until my boy had matured until i decided whether to hog him or not as when he first came to me his neck was a lot weaker and under developed.
