Dressage Competitions

Yes that is intro B.

I don't plait. I just make sure my pony is clean and tidy.

I wear a jacket and gloves. Also gaiters rather than chaps.

Yes that's the one. Lovely test to start with.

Well tips.......
Enjoy!!
You can have somebody call for you if you like if you are nervous and you think that might help.
Practice your free walk on a long rein as that marks counts twice!! With intro they are really looking at things like using your corners and making sure your circles are round!
Smile, sounds a bit daft but really helps.

Turnout. Depends are you doing unaffiliated or affiliated? If you can plait do so but you don't have to do so. Never plait mine but she is a native and her mane are left natural for showing.

Let us know how you get on. Good luck ;)

I did my first intro B last week, it's a really nice test to start! My horse on the other hand was very naughty, but we still came out with 60.43 and 5th! :)

Best advice is just to enjoy it! I had somebody read for me even though I knew the test just so I didn't worry about forgetting it (VERY bad memory I have :)) just go through it once or twice at home and you will be fine!
I plaited my horse as she is TB, but not everybody does!

Good luck :)

Thanks guys! Just wanted some confidence and to check I wouldnt be doing a completley different test!
Its unaffliated...
Shes not mountain and moorland...

:D can you imaging the judge saying at the end "sorry what was that"

If you can do so plaiting up will look lovely but it really is not a must at all esp. seeing it's unaffiliated.

Have fun!

Make sure you ride to the markers! That's a comment I've been given before when I've done a W&T test.

Also, as others have said smile! I would recommend having a caller for your first test. Still learn it, but it's definitely a big help. For me it's like a security blanket. If I have to think about remembering the test all by myself I forget all basics...like how to ride!

Work on the basics like good clean transactions and getting the right bend on circles/corners.

Make sure you and your horse are clean and tidy.

Have fun!

Ooh thanks for posting this - all being well I'll be taking my boy out next weekend for our first dressage test [it's Intro A] so I know how you feel!

I'm going to run through it a few times and then work on any areas where we have problems and try and nail the centre line without wibbly wobblying!

Good luck!

Just on the subject of callers - check with the venue beforehand if they're allowed. Some don't permit them, especially for championships, even at unaff Intro. You don't want to mentally rely on a caller then get there and find you're on your own. Good luck and enjoy it :)
