So, in a moment of madness, i have entered Dex for prelim tomorrow. My dilemma is that the white saddlecloth has not arrived

so i can either use a white square that has a burgundy binding or a regular well fitting numnah that is the same colour as the saddle

also should i wear the number or would i look less like the numpty i am if i pin it to the square....

Use the numnah. Squares are not in any way compulsory (let alone white squares!) and I would always rather use a plain numnah or square than one with a coloured binding.
Number - if you have any string or are provided with string (or that plastic strip stuff) wear it on your back... I assume that's what you meant?

I am sure the reason why white squares are regularly used is that they are just an optical illusion as they make horses look more collected and shorter in the back.

QR : I think it will look very odd with number on your back - I would prefer the attach to square pad option if you do not have a bridle number holder. Hope you have a nice time!

Numnah same colour as saddle.

Number? most venues don't give you a cardboard number. I can lend you a bridle number if you like.

Are you talking unaffiliated or affiliated? All the unaffiliated venues we have been to have either given you a card number to put on your back or not used a number at all and relied on you to give name to judge on entry.

We have often used a plain, saddle-shaped numnah for unaffiliated dressage and it is totally within the rules.
