A friend has been very kind to me recently and I'd like to get her something to show my appreciation. She really enjoys her dressage and is about to start competing again after a bit of a break due to several factors so I thought I'd get her a really smart dressage square.
I have two questions:

1. Would you like one as a gift or is too personal a choice - as in making sure if fits/suits the horse and saddle etc
2. If we agree it's a good idea, any suggestions for a nice one (I only do riding club so have a very basic one) or where to look please?
He's a Welshie so nothing too blingy but a bit of shiny trim would be fine. Budget is abut £100 (her kindness has saved me a lot more than that) but could be a bit more.

That sounds like a lovely thing to do. I love the eskadron squares, they wash and wear really well.
I'd try and go somewhere independent - my favourite choices are usually Equissentials Dressage or Matchy Dressage. Both easy to find in Google. Hayley at Equissentials is lovely, however, with your budget you could also get a very nice browband if you used Matchy Dressage...

I'd be cautious unless you already know what style and thickness she uses. I'd not use something that wasnt same thickness as my every day saddle pads and same high wither cut etc.

A really smart stock bib / with matching hairnet / hair scrunchie. Or a smart gloves or whip might be safer?

It's a lovely idea and you could always give it with a gift receipt just in case it's wrong as they can be hard to guess the right size etc.

Depending on what's left in your budget after buying the pad you could also go for saddlepad number holders and/ or a blingy browband?

I'm very picky about saddlecloths so for me it would have to be something with a gift receipt.
Personally some really nice gloves & whip I could just keep for best would be a great present?

saddlecloths are such a personal preference thing- i'd play it safe with a lovely blingy number holder and a nice vintage stock pin

My partner bought me (very thoughtfully) a dressage numnah and was so proud of himself I didn’t have the heart to tell him it didn’t fit my saddle, he asks why I haven’t used it when I go dressaging 😢

How about a nice stock? It's always good to have two as they do get dirty if white.

I'm another who is very fussy about saddle pads and only use one kind and they're not cheap!

Luckily I know what will fit her saddle as I sold it to her! I’m wracking my brain trying to remember what sort of saddlecloths she has but I can’t picture it. I might pop to watch her lesson at a clinic on Sunday to get a good look.
