I have a horse that gets sore very easily around his girth area, he had a girth gall when I bought him. I had to clip him because he was very hairy, getting very hot and sweaty and I started using a neoprene girth. He hasn't been too bad in the cold weather but the last few warmer days he has been getting very hot and nudging his girth area (which is how he tells me he is uncomfortable). I think the neoprene is making him too hot so now I am on the hunt for a suitable replacement dressage girth. Any advice for a very hot and sensitive horse? I can't use a sheepskin sleeve because it ends up soaking wet and dripping in mud.
Thanks

I went thru several girths and finally a saddler put me on to something different - they watched the way the my horse moved and could see it was a flap of skin coming back over the buckles and getting rubbed. A good saddler would hopefully notice stuff like that. Anyway, I'm now using a reactor panel girth - it's shaped and rather wide compared to what I was using before. It has done the job rather nicely. My horse was also spooking on one rein a lot - and it's stopped since the new girth :)

My horse was constantly being rubbed by dressage girths have tried a few, so I had the straps shortened and use a long shaped leather girth and its fine now I think some horses just dont get on with the short girths.
