Hello!
Is there any reason I could not use a dressage girth on a gp saddle?
I'm struggling to find a small enough, regular, anatomical girth for my daughters pony.
Shes 36" , plenty dressage girths about though.
It would be long enough to sit under the saddle flaps like a regular girth.
Thanks!

I have just checked Fylde Saddlery's website. They have anatomic girths in Black or Havana from 32" to 56", and white ones from 32" to 58".

Might be worth taking a look. :)

Yes, I found the fyldes, I ideally need something a bit cheaper, 2nd hand and quick delivery for upcoming pony club comp, fylde say allow 28 days :-( I will have to stretch to the price if i dont find a 2nd hand! Plenty dressage available in 36". x

Something to watch for with anatomical girths is that the cutaway parts are in the right place - a 36inch dressage girth would be designed for a big-barrelled horse and may be too bulky for a pony.

I have used the Hy waffle girths successfully on a Welsh D but she needed a bigger size than your pony.

How small do the Harry Dabbs waffle girths go? they can work on native ponies, but like everything depends upon the individual's shape and what fits one will be all wrong for another.

Do you mean you need a 36” girth, or the pony is 36” tall?

because a 36” dressage girth is really long, and decent ones are hard to find (been there, done that!)

Dressage girths tend to be bulkier full stop, they wont' sit well under the rider's leg and yes, elbow shaping or an overall curve won't be right for a tiny pony. I don't recommend budget girths because I prefer elastic and cheap girths have cheap stretchy elastic but if you're going for a fixed girth they'll probably be okay. I recommend the Stubben cord girth as the only fixed one and the Harry Dabbs waffle anatomical girth with elastic both ends.
