Does such an accessory exist to cover the long girth straps of a dressage saddle between where they leave the bottom of the saddle and attach to the girth... Preferably made of sheepskin or something nice n soft. Just to go between the straps and my very sensitive mares skin.

I'm thinking maybe a normal sheepskin girth cover cut short might do the trick but wonder if something 'proper' exists... a full length girth cover to cover it all would be ok but for the fact I need to access the buckles etc..

Appreciate any suggestions.

hows about using fluffy nose band or cheek piece covers on each of the straps above the girth? That would look quite neat too.

funnily enough I have just seen the sheepskin bits that can fit on the headcollar and thought that would be nice (tho didn't think about putting them on her girth straps), she is a VERY sensitive mare after all.

I've seen some lovely stephens girth covers, kinda just want extensions on them to cover the straps to. Have wondered about getting a full length one and butchering it to put holes in it so I can access the buckles but think it might be too fiddly and then risk it bunching up and annoying her that way instead. Will have a look at the noseband covers and see how much that sets me back for 4..

Think by the end of it she'll be covered in the fluffy stuff!

Actually, I'm wondering if I just need a longer girth so that less of the girth strap is touching her tummy.... She's such a big girl that I fear I might struggle getting one longer..

Trust me if you search enough big ones exists, robinsons do a big dressage girth and I have an enormous cottage craft one for my 17.1hher!

Thanks will take a look. Of course i limit myself a bit as I prefer the humane ones with the V strap thingy's. Was recommended as she has quite a forward girth and a girlie barrel so needed the flexibility of being between holes/different holes on each strap..
She's not had any foals, but definitely has space for one even tho her weight is about right at the moment!

The idea of the tag is that you loop it over the strap to stop the girth sleeve falling off when you undo the girth.

Anyway back to the question - if you want to design something our company could make it up for you

Thanks Oldmare I guess I can see how that works, getting the OH to pick one up today but if it's not suitable I will certainly bear your offer in mind (something I hadn't thought of tbh).

I had our local saddler make up soft leather covers for girth straps as it was the pinching action of the 2 straps he objected too. they are like a tube with a stitch line up the middle, easy to wipe clean too. I then punched a hole in the top and tied it on through girth strap hole so they didn't slide off when i undid the girth
