dressage girths

well, i am soon to get my wow saddles, and will be needing a dressage girth as they are long flapped, i would like to have some idea of what length i will be neediong, my horse currently wears a 52" long girth, is there anyway of working out what size short girth i will need, or will i just have to wait and see?

many thanks, any good quality leather girth recommendations would be good too!

Dressage girths are usually measured by halving the regular girth length, and adding on 2" if that makes any sense

My horse was in a 52" normal girth. I now have a WOW & use a 32" dressage girth.

I thought you had to take off 20" from your normal girth size? My horses normal size is 50" and dressage is 30"

Mine used a 50" / 52" on their jumping saddles and now needs a 30" on his wow saddles.

Gov takes a 54" for his jumping saddle and a 26" is more than long enough for his dressage sadde.

Fran I have a brand new neoprene black dressage girth 28" but too big for mine. I don't want much for it £5 plus p&p. PM me if you are interested. It would make a good spare.

Jasper is 50" girth but dressage is 26"

It depends on the girth make and the length of the saddle flaps. I had a thorogood girth which was a 22'' and I now have an albion which is 24. Also some girth straps are longer than others which will affect the size needed.

thanks everyone!! i think it will probably be around 28" then and i seem to remember using a 28" when i was trying out other saddles, htink i will wait until i get my saddle!

I'm getting the curvey wow girth with my saddle. I't's expensive so ii think i will save it for 'best'.
Am thinking of the sheepskin Mattes one's which keep coming up on ebay for everyday.
My boy takes a 52'' gp girth, although he could have a 50'' and it would still fit. The wow fitter has ordered me a 26'' girth.
What numnahs are you getting to go with yours?

I have a 52" GP girth and a 32" dressage one, my last pony was a 46" and a 26".
As for leather girths, I love the look and feel of the Kate Negus one (gave it a squish at Your Horse yesterday), the padding is really paddy and soft and it looks lovely. Don't know how much it is though, expensive probably!

i havent ordered any as yet, she never said anything about what they use or anything so ill use what iv got till iv decided!!

thought the wow one were a bit of a rip off seeing as u can get a very good quality one for more than 20 quid less!

I just bought a 28inch for my treeless, he's usually a 46inch. It fits, probably would have been better with a 26 though.
