how far is the girth suposed to come up at the sides, ive just been looking at a website and it says that you should ensure that the taper end of the girth sits under the saddle flap and the core girth finishes below the saddle flap, i thought that is finishes well below the saddle flaps,, confussed any advice would be really appriciated :-)

You need to make sure the ends of the girth finish above the elbows, so it does not rub or interfere with the movement, depends on how long the flaps and girth straps of the saddle as well, that's why on photos they may differ slightly.

They say half your normal size girth and add 2 to it to get the right size.
I agree the link looks right but some shaped dressage girths need to be a bit longer so the shaped bits sit where they should be.
Hope that makes sense as reading it back it seems a bit gobbledy gook.:D

mmm C&C thats what uive been doing...lol and found the same which means mine is ok but im currantly looking for a foreward cut sheepskin girth as my lad is flat footed and the ground isnt helping him, he keeps jarring himself up pratting around so i want somthing that is a bit more comfy for him round the girth area, ive been looking at these and the info is near the bottom of the page, http://www.numnah.com/info_girths.asp?pid=574
