Was wondering if I can wear black gloves for unaff dressage, as I have seen a lovely pair I really like. Also, is it acceptable to wear beige jodhs rather than white, I suffer badly from tree trunk thighs!

yes, black gloved are fine - you no longer need to wear pale colours (and unless you have perfect hands, much better to wear a dark pair). Beige jods also fine - again, white might look great on skinny young riders, but dont do many favours for anyone else

As a bit of a 'Trinny' myself i think you will look just the ticket if you go for the beige rather than the white if you are not blessed with stick legs! Also the dark gloves look much neater . Always wear clothes you like to wear and feel good in then you are much more likely to relax and feel a bit more confident rather than going around worrying...'does my bum look big in this?!!'

Yes that would be fine, also look out for when Lidl have their horse stuff in, they had the best gloves ever for under a fiver, we bought about 8 pairs and as an after thought picked up a sort of green pair. Turns out they match CCJ's hacking jacket exactly and are her favourite gloves. Being Lidl I doubt we will ever get another pair.. Beige jods are fine too, it's the overall picture you present that counts not the degree of whiteness.

Ah, cheers everyone, I do feel like I am distracted when wearing light jodhs due to being self conscious, but wondered if I was being silly and vain. Its good to know others think about it too. Mnd you, it will be my four year old's first dressage, so I will have more to think about than looking fat!

I have never worn white breeches and I never will! I really do not like them and think beige breeches look so much smarter.
