My daughter wants to start entering some (low key) dressage competitions , they would only be local to us so Vale view or Brooksby (if they do them!) but does she need to be a member of British Dressage ?, she is 17 and her pony is 14.2hh , or can anyone reccomend anywhere else local to have a go ? is there anywhere that does dressage clinics in Leicestershire ? sorry for all the questions !!

You can do BD NON Qualifier Prelim classes without horse or rider being a member. If you want to do BD Qualifier Prelim classes then the rider needs to be a member of BD but not the horse. If she just wants to have a go at Novice then you can buy £6 class tickets from BD so neither horse or rider have to be registered. But if you want to compete at Novice otherwise then both horse & rider need to be BD memebrs (and the horses owner if that is not your daughter)

Hope this makes sense!!

Thank you all

she has been trying really hard with her lessons and getting him to look a bit less like a girraffe ! , she thinks it's all a bit out of her league with her hairy pony but I think dressage is a great disipline
