With out this sounding like an advert would any body be interested in a new dressage venue in the south east?
Have one show planned already but as yet have had no response to schedules and I am getting a bit worried that it will be a flop!
Do you think that there is too many already and that maybe it won't take off?
We are trying to aim it at the more novice competitor but plan to add some novice tests if all goes well.
Opinions on this would be much appreciated.

I would think it would be pretty popular - I know around this area that many of the unaffiliated competitions get booked up well before the entries close.

Have you made sure that your schedule is available online and that the date is listed on sites like Horsemart, Pegasus and Riding Diary?

Think sometimes events take a while to establish. My yard has started running a evening dressage clinic every other Wednesday. 1st week only liveries competed, the next time it was liveries and some from the yard next door and on Wednesday there was 15 in the Prelim, so getting there. Think it just take a while for the word to circulate.

If anything there's probably not enough dressage in our area, I mean there's really only Golden Cross that has regular dresage comps, even Crockstead doesn't have that many.

I would definately come, bring me a schedule next time you see me!

I'd be happy to see more dressage venues.

There use to be more hacking distance shows in the past than what there are now. It seems local shows are now very few and far between.

I guess it depends where you are in the South East.... there are loads and loads around our way (Kent/Surrey border) and everyone struggles to get consistent entries - sometimes there are loads and othertimes there aren't many at all!

The most well supported events are championship series - people will travel anywhere to win a small prize he he

Also find it depends hugely on the weather - if it's nice you'll get loads of entries.

Good luck - could you PM me the details?

Depends where in the SE, if its east of Brighton, then a bit far for me, but if not, we are always looking for new venues to go to, particularly as our most local one Belmoredean, seems to have stopped holding comps at the moment.

Do you know why Belmoredean have stopped having dressage comps? I would travel from my place to there as its so nice

Belmoredean - I don't know for definite what is going on. Their website is down and has been for some time and I have "heard on the grapevine" that there has been some disagreements with the organisers/venue and the future for competitions being held is looking dim apparently and may possibly be only affiliated in the future if they decide to hold competions. Such a shame, as it is a gorgeous venue, really well run, very friendly and only 40 mins up the road for us.

I used to live in Horsham so it was very local to me then

I now keep my horse near Hailsham but I would make the effort to travel to Belmoredean because its such a nice place!

What a shame, I hope they get it sorted out soon then, would be terrible to lose a venue as good as that one
