Hello,

I found an old thread about dressage instructors in North Yorkshire but I would like some up to date advice.

Both myself and my horse are a bit green, she's an ex racehorse and whilst I can ride I've not had many lessons. I'd love to do some dressage on her but really want to do the groundwork before setting out to some competitions..

..so long story short, I'm looking for a good dressage instructor that is good for beginners but knows there stuff and can really bring us both on.

I'm between York & Scarborough.. any help would be greatly appreciated

Cathy Burrell is at Pannal nr Harrogate so migh be a bit far. She's really good and has trained her own horse from scratch up to GP and has competed internationally. She's also the Northern region para rep.

Margot Tiffany at Northallerton EC could be a good option for you. She's lovely and is very good with ex racers and Starting from scratch and i believe is the only BE list 1 judge in the area.

Janice Chadwick in East Yorks is on the BD Trainers website, and she trains several people i know. She works from nervous beginners, to those wanting to compete BD. She also works with horses starting them and also specialises in restarting racehorses and problem horses.

May be a bit far, but she is great with all levels and very understanding of all sorts of horses!

ill second Cathy Burrely ive been having them with her for a few weeks now and she is great. I have mine with her through the riding club so comes to your might be worth asking your local riding club if they have anything arranged with her. I also use Sue Joy of Haxby for my weekly lessons she is very good on the flat and really knows her stuff i can PM her details if you want.

Thank you all for your replies. Cathy Burrell sounds good but I think she may be a bit far away.

Amanda Blundell is very close to me so she may be a good call. I'm going to contact a few of them and see what sort of response I get and take it from there.

Thank you for your help.

I love the look of that mechanical horse - think I'm going to get a group together to do it. Pointless spending lots of money on a chiro and osteo for the ned if I don't fix myself

Thanks for doing the post :)

I've emailed a few of the instructors and Cathy has come back to me straight away :D so it looks like that is going to be the way I'm going to go. I'm so excited.

Thanks
