Anyone got any views/opinions?

I thought that three of the competitors may be feeling that one of the judges (the same one) was a bit extreme in their scoring.

Out of interest, is there anywhere on line where you can see the scores per movement for each test?

totally agree. I looked at the scores. Ben way was scored very oddly - 18 mark difference between two judges seems a bit strange. he was ranked 16th by one judge, 36th by another and 58th by the judge at c. were they really watching the same test. lissa Green and Katrin Khoddam Hazrati also had strange marks from the judge at c.

I watched the first few tests after lunch and I agree with the commentators that the marks were a bit harsh. One of them seem to imply that a less flashy horse doing an accurate test was getting less marks than a big moving horse making mistakes.

I didn't watch it all but the judge at C seemed more generous. There few I saw did all the movements but did not have the expression of 'proper' dressage, but I would imagine if you just want to go for solid 6's and if you get more it's a bonus.
I have not been for quite a few years and I can remember when no one bothered to watch and there were perhaps 50 people in the cheap seats. Today it was packed. I couldn't have a nap.
The standard has improved by so much but it does lend to mechanical horses who are not really through, just to get a 6 mark.

I thought the scoring was on the whole very good and much more realistic of the work being shown. Eventing has IMO been trending to overscoring in recent years.

One of our rather privileged Brits got way overmarked in my view for a horse that barely accepted the contact throughout and lacked suppleness

I thought it was judged a lot fairer than the last few big events I've seen. There wasn't half as much discrepancy between judges as there was at Badminton, and it had to be really good for an 8, whereas 9s and 10s were regular occurrences in the last few years. I watched 3/4 of the tests on the Thursday and can only recall one 9.. I don't think that the early tests were more harshly marked, as they sometimes can be.

i watched most of the dressage on friday and thought,on the whole the judges were on the right lines. however they seemed to stay in the middle of the marks and gave very few really low marks or really high ones so a really good extended trot or flying change got 7 and a mediocre one also seemed to get 7. one rider didnt complete a flying change and they all gave it 4 when it should have been much lower as the change was not shown. even the commentaters, bobby hayler and john bowen could understand that..
