Seen dressage knickers advertised on Facebook. It looks as though they have a padded gusset.

TMI here but I do tend to suffer with UTIs and wondered if these might make a difference?

Has anyone tried them? Are they worth getting?

Thanks in advance.

I've never tried them, but have often thought longingly about them when riding without stirrups! I don't suffer from UTIs, but a friend does, and she found they made her more comfortable with sitting trot.

You can also get cycling underwear which is padded in all the right places - I got a couple of pairs from amazon for about £20

Thank you for your replies. I think I will give them a try.

The saddle thing is interesting and something I'll speak to my saddler about.

Sadly there are only a couple of fixes that are really possible with an existing saddle, plus there's a lack of awareness in the market (for me, until a few months ago) about pelvic and hip shape, how to assess it, and then how to choose a saddle to suit it. As fitters we tend to work off trial and error, we might go on how someone looks which isn't a good indicator of seat bone width, pelvic length or how the hips hang.

There is good work being done but it's in very small pockets, with everyone else just hoping they find a saddle that suits better than others, or at least can have the flap angled differently, or the block placed differently, or other minor tweaks that don't really address the fundamentals.

I have tried padded pants to ride in - both specific dressage pants and cycling ones - and in my case they made things worse as the area was even more "squished"!
