How many people use them?

I have some on my dressage saddle and, they were ok at first but stretched and then the excess leather folds down on itself and gets in the way.

I tried using tape to attatch it back but it doesn't last long.

Also I have an issue with them when Im not riding. Obviously you cannot run them up like normal leathers so I guess you are supposed to fold them over the saddle seat. That is all very well but it ruins the small flap that covers the stirrup flap.

I have batteled with them for 2 years now and am wondering if I should just go back to the normal leathers.

How do you cope?

Do not have experience of dressage leathers but have tried Bates webbers, which are lovely, adjust them at the bottom so no lump underneath your leg.

I can give you the details of a saddler local to me who made me a lovely pair in English leather for under £20. I just explained what I was after and he ordered the special buckles in. I either take them off and carry them or fold them over but as they are soft they don't pull on the skirts

I take mine off.

You get into the habit I guess; I untack by taking stirrups off first, looping actual stirrups over arm, girth off and over arm, bridle off onto shoulder then saddle off.

Mine have only stretched a little bit but are like the Bates webbers with a single fastening at the bottom. (Does that make sense?

I use Bates leather dressage webbers, they have an extra slot high up near the flaps. I hook it up to there then run the leather through as you would with any stirrup leather... if that makes sense

His name is Dave Lucas 01564 824415, deff' worth a try. A friend tried the Bates webbers and they marked the flaps of her brand new saddle, she was not impressed!

Oven gloves! Honestly! I have dressage leathers and dont like to flip them over the saddle to store them so have bought a thick set of oven gloves....the one piece ones with the mit at each end. I just lay that over the saddle seat and then tuck the irons into each hand hole!

I have used leathers and find them good until the stretch so I use the plasticy dressage ones, may sound bad but stops stretching and keeps them level.

I wouldn't buy any stirrup leather that is just leather! Particularly for dressage. You need something with nylon or other non stretch material sandwiched between leather (synthetic or real) so that the leathers will not stretch. Pretty sure this is what the Bates webbers will be. I have the WOW leathers. Non stretch and like the Bates, there is a hole right at the top so you can run them up. I also have a pair of Amerigo leathers that are very narrow and thin (also non stretch) and these are a nice alternative if you are fed up with dressage leathers.
